I am craving a holiday. Seriously. Walks on the beach, jumping around in the sea, amazing food and sunshine. I’d even give up my relaxation and go on a family holiday! My little ones still haven’t been on their first holiday and I’m not sure when we will. But I’m putting it on my vision board and I know we’ll make it happen. We’ve been away in the UK and the boys have loved it! Me and Chiino, my husband, are both double jabbed, so it’s just a matter of time before we have our first family holiday. We might hang on until closer to the summer holidays and grab a last-minute holiday deal, but then again, I feel like as it’s our first holiday I’d like to plan a little bit more.
We’ve looked at flying from East Midlands airport and there’s plenty of family holidays. It’s just working out the best school holiday to use up and finding the best location, especially for two little boys who are super adventurous. We’d love to go to a water park style hotel or a great little villa somewhere that we can all enjoy. Either way, we have to make it happen!
To celebrate the fact that holidays are back on, I joined a lovely virtual event arranged by Jet2.com & Jet2holidays, where a cocktail expert from Mixology took us on a tongue-tingling taste of holiday. That’s right, a cocktail making class! It was like in a gorgeous restaurant on a Greek holiday. Just without the sunshine! I love a virtual event! It’s like all the fun and games (and alcohol in this case) but you don’t have to worry about getting home. Winning!

We were sent all the ingredients and a fab cocktail making kit so we could follow along with the brilliant host. We made four cocktails, all of which were stunning (and strong!). My favourite though was the Rose & Pine Martini. I could easily have checked out the next flights to Greece and relaxed with one of these in my hand! That’s the pleasure of holidays, isn’t it? It’s the not having work the next day kinda feeling.

If you fancy making this mouth-watering cocktail, here’s the recipe!
Ingredients:
Rosemary sprig (roughly 3cm)
45ml London Dry Gin (one full shot, one 20ml) – if you fancy a mocktail, then swap this for a non-alcoholic version, somewhere like Lyres has some amazing low or non-alcohol spirits.
20ml Elderflower Cordial
20ml Pineapple Juice
10ml Dry Vermouth
Rosemary sprig to garnish
Method:
In a Boston glass (I used a wine glass), lightly muddle the rosemary.
Using a jigger to measure, add the gin, elderflower cordial, pineapple juice and dry vermouth.
Fill the glass with cubed ice and seal using the tin.
Shake for 10-15 seconds.
Use a Hawthorne strainer, carefully strain the drink into a Martini glass; keep the gap between the edge of the tin and the strainer as small as possible to ensure no rosemary goes in the drink.
Garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
Serve and Enjoy!
I do love a cocktail class. It gives me a little time out from everyday life, just like a holiday! It also makes me realise that I am clueless when it comes to alcohol and I’m much better at drinking them than making them. Although the ones I did during this class didn’t turn out too bad after all!. Now, please excuse me while I go and dream about some amazing Greek locations for our first family holiday!
Have you booked a holiday yet? If so, let me know where you’re off too!
