A little pick me up is never a bad thing, whether it’s a new dress, a chocolate treat or something new added to my make up bag. Well, this week, thanks to Love Lemonade, I’ve added something amazingly shiny to my collection thats enough to give any night out a little pick me up. Welcome Glitter Lips to my make up bag! Glitter Lips is a semi permanent lip glitter that stays in place for up to 12 hours and really makes your face pop. I tried and tested the bright pink ‘bubblegum‘ glitter from the ‘pretty in pink‘ set to see if it worked for me.

What I love about Glitter Lips is just how quick and easy it is to apply. It took me about 20 seconds to read the instructions and then around 5 minutes to apply the glitter itself. Not bad when you get such a fab result. Inside the box is a little glass tub of fine glitter and I would easily say enough for numerous applications (at least 5!). Warning – this can be a little messy so I’d do it over a sink if possible, before you’re dressed or at a table with something underneath you to catch the excess glitter. You also get a tacky lipgloss (which resembles PVA glue, the make up version!) and a lipgloss style fabric stick that you apply the glitter with.

Firstly, you apply the PVA glue style lipgloss in an even layer, straight away it becomes a little tacky so don’t attempt to talk. Then you use the other applicator to dap on the glitter. You can build it up to be as intense as you like. So if you just want a little sparkle you can add a couple of dabs. If you want full on glitter lips, then dab and pat to your hearts content. It really is that easy.

Now, as soon as it’s on you’ll have the overwhelming feeling that you’ve eaten a sugar coated doughnut and if you lick your lips you’ll be banned to the Forbidden Forest near Hogwarts. But trust me, once this stuff is on, it isn’t coming off. Once you get used to the slightly dry feeling, it really does just feel like a thick lipstick. Of course if you brush your tongue along it you’ll feel pretty rough but once the glitter is on it DOES NOT move. Seriously. Drink, kissing, talking, it doesn’t budge. The only thing that makes it were off is if you eat oily food, so stay away from the chicken wings at the party OK?

Glitter Lips is great value for money, comes in a range of colours and is great for a special occasion. (You might love it, but I wouldn’t suggest wearing this every day!). There is also a Glitter Eyes range which I’ll be featuring soon to see how that compares to the impressive lip range. As this stuff stays had and fast, you might wonder how to remove it. Some people use oil based make up removers, but I found the BEST and easiest way of removing Glitter Lips is by popping a bit of olive oil on tissue and wiping a few times. Finish off with a baby wipe or damp cloth and you’re done!
